予防医学の歴史７（日本）
日本における医学は、オランダ医学と古代中国の医学であった。
予防医学の分野では、貝原益軒が記した健康維持のための
教育書「養生訓」が有名。
１８５８年に東京・神田に種痘所が設立されて市民に種痘が行われ、
後に東京大学医学部となった。
明治維新により１８７３年、医務局が設置され、西洋医の養成が
始まり、１８７５年には医務・薬務・公衆衛生については衛生局
の所管となった。
Pettenkoferのもとで学んだ諸方正規は、その東京大学で初の
衛生学教室教授となり、医学教育を行った。
同じくPettenkoferのもとで学んだ坪井次郎（1962～1903）、
１８９７年に創設された京都帝国大学医学部の初代学長と
なり、衛生学講座を開設した。
他に森林太郎（鴎外）もPettenkoferに師事している。
